EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)

EFT is often referred to as Tapping and is based on the same theory as Chinese acupuncture. The body has energy channels called meridian lines, which carry energy through our system. Tapping on the ends of these meridians, whilst focusing on a specific issue reduces the emotion attached to that issue. By releasing negative beliefs, more positive, supporting beliefs can take their place.

ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)

Pronounced act, not individual letters. ACT is about accepting what is outside of our personal control and committing to take positive action in line with what is meaningful to us, with the aim of creating a rich and more fulfilling life.

ACT teaches psychological skills (psychological flexibility) to enable the effective handling of painful or unhelpful thoughts and feelings. This helps to reduce their impact on us. It also helps us to focus on what means the most to us, sometimes known as our values and then using them to set goals to take action for a more meaningful life. The aim of ACT is not to take away the painful symptoms, but to learn to accept them as part of normal living, through living life in a more mindful, values-guided way. In other words it’s about changing our relationship with our symptoms, so they no longer prevent us from achieving a more meaningful life.

Psychological flexibility is the ability to Be present, Open Up and Do What Matters
